This interactive game from our “Knower & Learner Mindset” workshop presents different business ideas to participants. They then must decide if they would invest in the business or pass on the opportunity.
After each round, workshop leader Dan Seewald, reveals which real-world company was presented, and the historical fate of that business. Seewald is the founder of Deliberate Innovation, an innovation consulting firm. He is also the former Head of Innovation at the biopharmaceutical company Pfizer.
The exercise reveals the difficulty of making predictions when there is “information asymmetry,” or incomplete information. Seewald also points out the challenges of managing different, unknown variables.
“It’s hard to separate the signal from the noise,” he said. “We don’t know what is most important of all these different variables.”
